How to vote in Denmark

Information available in English and other languages on how to vote in Denmark

You can vote at regional or local government elections,

  • if you are aged 18 and: are a Danish citizen,
  • or are an EU, Norwegian or Icelandic citizen,
  • or are a citizen of another non-EU country and have lived in Denmark for 4 years prior to the election.

When do you reciece a voting card (valgkort)?

  • You’ll receive a valgkort by post no later than 5 days before the election.
  • It tells you where and when to vote.
  • If you don’t receive it or it has errors, contact your municipality.
